Tanguyu Clay Dolls

Some of the first toys for Istmeña children were made out of clay which brought a connection to the earth and its natural elements.

We collaborated with a husband and wife artisan duo and designed the Frida Tanguyu (clay doll) with her heart in her hands. Handmade out of red clay and handpainted in the traditional Istmeña traditional fashion of that part of Oaxaca.
